The book I choose is Cinder by Marissa Meyer or Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. Cinder is retelling Cinderella in a futuristic/dystopian type of way, and Howl's Moving castle is - in my opinion - a classic book!

I love Cinder, it's one of my favorite books of the year. If you want to see a quick review of the book, Katie made a booktube video about it (plus a little skit at the end):

Not your style? Well try Howl's Moving Castle. The Anime was based off the book! Here's a quick review so if you want more information (plus a skit at the end):

It's impressionability. If it really stays with you after you finish reading it. :)

Hey, thank you for the giveaway. :)
What makes a book "classic"? I agree absolutely with Italo Calvino, who once wrote that: "A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say." :)

To me a classic is something that never leaves you and you can come back to it a million times and it's just as great as the first time

A classic is a book you can read time after time and still love!

A book is a classic when it's being talked about for generations. No matter the time period, people can relate to it in some way and appreciate the powerful story.

Original, thought provoking..

I entered your Off to OZ Giveaway Hop.
It would be great to win a copy of
Cinder by Marissa Meyer.
I haven't read this book yet.
In response to your question of
What makes a book "classic"?
What makes a book classic is when it is being talked about and still being read years after it was published. It has to have a story that captures your heart and makes you want to read it over and over
and tell everyone else to read it.
Thank you for having this giveaway!!!!!!

I think the idea has to be original and it has to be a story people can relate to and enjoy. Thanks for the giveaway!

A book is a classic if people read it again and again through the years without being bored :)

It has to be memorable - something that you could read over and over and it still gives you that satisfied feeling of hearing a good story telling. abrennan09@hotmail.com

Something that can stand the test of time.

A book that no matter how old or many times you've read it, you still find it enjoyable. For me that's Alice in wonderland.

It's a classic if it's timeless... :)

Well, staying power. Something you could go back and read after several years and still find compelling, or even find something new. Thanks for the giveaway--was just talking about Howl's Moving Castle at work and encouraging a co worker to read it, she liked the movie a lot.

To me, a classic book is one that still relevant with today's conditions even years after it was first published

A Classis book is one that you remember long into your life and that you would love for others to read and enjoy it the way you did a classic book to me is Gone with the Wind, I guess you could call it a southern version of a fairy tale.. LOL, but I still enjoy it

The story and what it tells about society at the time. Most classic novels have a lot of meaning. A lot of classic novels still resonant today.

I would love to be able to answer your question. I've asked myself that for years. Many of the books that are deemed "classics" are, to me, simply outdated, boring dialogues that have been selected by blowhard English professors who like to hear themselves speak and who really do not care what makes great literature. My opinion of a classic is a book that includes issues that are always relevant, no matter the genre of the book, no matter the time period, and no matter the age designation of the book. It must have universal appeal and must be interesting. michelle_willms@yahoo.com

For me, classic is when you're never ever get bored to read that book, even you already have read it maybe for thousand times.

Thanks for this giveaway.

i think that the characters, and that you dont get bored read it all over again!
thanks!

I think if every generation can relate to the book in some way..that and being able to read it again and again and always finding something new.
Thanks for the giveaway!

the ability to last in time

That it can stand the test of time!

I think everyone has covered it. A classic indeed stands the test of time and is usually loved by many.
Thanks :0)

Thank you for the awesome giveaway!
I guess what makes a book a classic is when its appreciated and enjoyed still by readers of all ages and generations. In other words: timeless. :)

I think a classic is a book that is appropriate for everyone and can be read now or 100 years from now and it's just as good! Thanks for this amazing giveaway - I would love to win!

A classic is something that has withstood the test of time (relatively, I'd say at least 20 years or more) and is still read and loved prominently.

What makes a book classic if it will be relevant reading far into the future.

That every generation can build upon it and interpret it differently.

Something that can be read or seen again and again and is relatable no matter the time period.

I've watched the movie for Howl's Moving Castle, it was amazing! One of my favorite movies!
Cinder sounds interesting, especially since I've read Scarlet. (Kinda bad considering that Scarlet is the second book)

Oops.. forgot to mention that a book is a classic if it has a deep meaning or lesson to teach, and something that can be enjoyed by all ages and eras.

A classic is a book that has special meaning and has been enjoyed by many people throughout the ages.

When even your old teachers know about it? Thanks for the awesome giveaway! :D

It haw to know by a lot poeple and all generations.

I agree with the comments above. It is something you can read over and over again and never gets old. Thanks for the giveaway!

anyone can read it at any time

A book that everyone still talks about ten years after it's released.

A book you can reread a million times without getting bored.

What makes a book classic..mmmm..when all people know about the story although dont read it before.

What makes a book "classic"?

Longevity.
Re-read ability.

A book that is read by generations, a book you read over and over again, characters you love.

I think a book is a classic when you read the story over and over. Share with your family and friends.

A classic to me is either a book that you absolutely adored and can read over and over again. Or it can be a timeless book that has been read from generation to generation and is well known.

For me, a book is considered classic when it lived throughout the years because it has left an important mark in a person's life.
